I have a janome 760 that I use for quilt classes and retreats. It has become possessed. It will not stop sewing after I take my foot off the pedal. I've cleaned the pedal, moved it and done everything I can think of (hasn't gone in for a check up yet though) The only way to stop is to turn it off. Frustrating at best.

I've had several machines that did that, the parts in the pedal wear enough so it doesn't move off the contacts that make it go, I fixed my really old singer but just chucked 2,and bought a new pedal for one. I'm not afraid to tinker with some things but sometimes it's better to replace if you use it a lot.

I have had this problem. In fact, there were a few of us Janome owners with that foot pedal problem. I will try to find the earlier discussion. It was very helpful, and believe it or not, I was able to fix the problem using a pencil eraser!

It's scary when the machine seems to have a mind of it's own.

You may need to get a new foot pedal...I would call your dealer and see what they say.

My pfaff did that -- the problem wasn't the foot pedal -- it was the motherboard. It was too expensive to fix (old machine) so I replaced it with my Janome. So far so good with the Janome!

I was told if you pull the plug for your foot petal and the machine keeps going it may be the mother board. Mine has done that and now starts moving the needle left to right real fast. I called my dealer, he told me to bring it in, but he lives 200 miles from me and I haven't taken it to him yet. Good luck

I had the same problem with my brand new Janome 6600P when I first got it. Went to the dealer and she replace the foot pedal and haven't had a problem since. I have the 760 too and love it. If it stops when it's unplugged, then it has to be the foot pedal.
