Can anyone please suggest a machine that would handle the making of an occasional large quilt in the mid price range price?. I am an occasional sewer so I really don't want to spend alot of money.

Thanks,
Cassie

Define a lot of money.

$400 dollars for a Bernina 830 that will adequately do all your quilting needs, or more for something computerized that will quilt, embroider, wash floors, fix lasagna, make the beds, and correct your kids homework?

I suspect there are cheaper machines, my Elna Super does most of the piecing work. It cost me 60 dollars plus shipping and 150 dollars to have repaired. I guess it would handle large quilts if you got a walking foot for it. I just like the solidness of the Bernina.

tia s,
I found my Bernina down at a local "White" or something Sewing Machine shop. Sometimes they have vacuum cleaners at these shops also. It was used, but very well cared for. It came with a 90 day (unused) warranty.

The Elna was bought off EBay. Not the best way to buy a sewing machine.
