Yayyy! I'm off to a course today, ALL day! A whole day of sewing! Wooohoooo! (can you tell I'm excited?!?)

Hopefully there'll be lots of tips and hints and techniques to learn. I'll report back tonight. :-)

kluedesigns 07-02-2009 12:08 PM

stitch your heart out

BlueChicken 07-02-2009 12:17 PM

I'll let you in on a little secret (as I scoff my breakfast, I'm running late)....

I'm just a wee bit worried that the tutor won't hold a candle to you guys! LOL

I booked in for this course a couple of months ago, and since then have been reading quilting threads on here, asking questions and taking notes, and I've learned SO much.

KittyGram 07-02-2009 12:20 PM

Let us know what you learn!!!!!

kluedesigns 07-02-2009 12:26 PM

i understand completely how you feel - i learn new stuff here every day.

even the most smallest detail has many different ways of being tackled and its just so nice to hear what other people are doing.

i've learned more from these wonderful people in 3 months then i have from the local guild in the last 12 months.

SulaBug 07-02-2009 12:29 PM

Can't wait to hear all about it!!
:D :D :D

Lacelady 07-02-2009 02:04 PM

Lacelady 07-03-2009 11:25 AM

You've gone awfully quiet, blue chicken, did that day's sewing wear you out that much? Please let us know how you got on, having whetted our appetites.

kluedesigns 07-03-2009 11:29 AM

her arms must be tired from all the quilting that she doesn't have the strength to write to us :D

Shemjo 07-03-2009 03:20 PM

I think she must be really busy practicing what she learned so she can post a picture of her COMPLETED work, just to make me look bad, but I'm not taking it personally! :?

kluedesigns 07-03-2009 03:30 PM

good point and then we can learn from the master.

sandpat 07-03-2009 04:27 PM

I think she has overdosed on quilting. You know it just had to happen to one of us at some point.... ..(slowly playing "Taps")..

littlehud 07-03-2009 05:24 PM

Enjoy yourself and then come tell us about all the fun. I can't wait.

BlueChicken 07-04-2009 07:36 PM

LMAO

Sorry.... our kids are on school holidays now, for two weeks, so have been flat out sending them in different directions and trying to get some order back into my house. As well as a WHOLE lot of sewing! ;-)

The course was great, I had a really good time. I have to say though, I didn't learn a whole lot. You guys have taught me a lot more :-)

It was a really nice bunch of ladies, we had lots of laughs, lunch was great (isn't it always when you don't have to cook it yourself) and I had an excellent day. Just what I needed.

BlueChicken 07-04-2009 07:38 PM

Probably the biggest thing I learned was that I was already doing things right.

And to relax! Relax, relax, relax.

And look ahead of the needle, not at the needle, just like when you're driving a car you don't look at the road directly in front of you, you look where you want to go.

Got to try gloves, which I definitely will have to get. And there was a lot of discussion on different marking methods, etc.

Shemjo 07-04-2009 07:47 PM

Hey, wlecome back! And thanks for letting us know that you have already been taught by the master! Practice and relax and breathe!

BlueChicken 07-04-2009 07:52 PM

Of course, it helped a lot to see everyone else's work and realise that I'm way ahead of most of them! lol

There's something about sitting in a room with like minded people, sewing away, having a good yak and a laugh.

How comforting, Blue, to think that you are doing the right things. Even if you didn't learn much that was new, it is always nice to have confirmation that what you are doing is good. Any pictures to go with this course?

sandpat 07-05-2009 03:49 AM

Isn't it a great feeling to know that you are already building all the right foundations! A day of playing like that is like heaven to me. I love to look at what others are doing also...I can always learn something.

And, yes, do get the gloves, in fact...get a couple of pairs! I bought some and now don't know how I did anything without them. The fingertips of mine get dirty fairly quickly (especially when I've drawn my pattern on tracing paper with a pencil) so I wash them everynight when I am quilting. I'm going to get another pair or 2 so I don't have to worry so much about the drying time. I'd hate to mess up a quilt by smearing pencil lead all over it.

marigail 07-06-2009 01:29 PM

glad to hear you had a good time. I started an applique bom and am going to my second class Sat. It is a lot of fun and yes it is relaxing.

SharonC 07-08-2009 08:45 AM

Glad you had fun. I want to tell you I finally got a pair of the gloves and am getting a couple more pairs. They make quilting sooooo much easier and I too, don't know what I did without them. :)

Minda 07-08-2009 02:20 PM

BlueChicken, Who was the instructor for your class?

nana2 07-09-2009 06:38 AM

Be a sponge!!! Have fun!!! Tell us everything!!!!

adrianlee 07-09-2009 09:35 AM
