what kind of thread do you use on your machine quilting i have bought thread from walmart and then went to a quilting shop and bought some and it ravels and then it breaks consantly i don't know what to do i have jamone machine and do not know anything about it i have only used brother could someone please help me thanks dorothy from tenn

what brand and type of thread are you using, also the threads could be different sizes and you are using a needle that is too small for the thread that is shredding, if you post the brand and size of thread ie 30wt 50wt, and what size needle you are using we can give you more advice

I have a Janome 6500 & I use either Connecting Threads cotton or Coats & Clark Dual duty, always the same in needle & bobbin at the same time.. I had to adjust the tension somewhat. I do occassionally have a thread breaking problem & it seems to happen if to much lint gets under the bobbin holder thingy. I am no expert. I will be watching for tips from others, also. I would say I mostly use a size 11 needle.

I have a janome dc 3018. Sometimes when the thread breaks my tension needs adjusted and sometimes the machine needs cleaned because it has some fuss under the throat plate. Once I clean the machine and or adjust the tension then it seems to sew perfectly. Good luck. I love my janome. :):):)

Even if you chose not to use their threads you will still find information that will help you out and understand the different types of thread.

some machines don't like certin threads. I bought some king tut but my machine didn't like it. Definately look at the needle size you are using and make sure you are using machine quilting thread not hand quilting thread as the hand with really mess your tension up. good luck.

I have 3 Janome machines and never had a problem with breaking thread etc. I use Coats and Clark occasionally but mostly Connecting threads or Gutterman. The all work well. Change my needle often and keep the bobbin area free of lint etc. No problems

My new bernina is very picky about the thread I use. I had been using the Connecting threads for piecing and had no problems at all. But I tried to use them for machine quilting and it was a mess. I love Gutterman and use it for all of my machine quilting.

i buy all of my thread from Connecting Threads- have had great luck with all of them, good prices, good color selection- good weight/type selection.
i have a viking sewing machine that will not accept alot of threads- like some coats & clark-- but it also does not like some others- it is aggrivating to spend money on thread to only find it will not work in your machine- when that happens to me i save it for hand work- or as a basting thread.

I am in complete agreement , its King Tut all the way when it comes to the quilting part. Great thread , Superior Threads is great at giving info. I also love that on the spools they give you the recommended needle size for the best outcome.
