I am wanting to get a machine to take to classess and can't find anything small or lightweight in my area so am considering ordering one. My friends say get a featherwieght or a Janome MC3000 - depends on who you ask! ... so ... I thought I would ask you!

Help! ... any other suggestions or is one of these a good choice??

You'd be very limited for classes with a featherweight as they're not made for FMQ and don't have applique stitches. I'd get a Janome Jem or something along those lines.

I use a Janome Gem. It is very easy to handle and does well enough. If I'm going to need to do something complicated I take my Pfaff, but that isn't very often.

I have the Jem Gold for classes. I have the 6500 at home and I love that the feet are interchangable. Both are workhorses!

Janome Gem
I do own three Feather Weights but you can do anything and everything with a Janome Gem it is just a 3/4 machine. With the feather weight you do straight stitch.

I won a Janome 3160 and it's wonderful!! But several of the ladies I sew with have Janome Gems or Magnolias and love them too.
Featherwieghts are great if you can find one for a good price but they aren't always available.

You won it! Lucky you.

I bought a Brother HS 2000 for my kids, but I think it would make a fine machine for taking to classes. You can get one for around $200. I've heard only good things about Janomes.

Can't go wrong with a Janome and I love the 760. Has most of the features of a 6500 without the thread cutter.
