Have you ever cut your pieces out and started sewing your blocks, and things just don't look right.

I cut a new pattern and made four blocks. They looked great............but did not go together right. I took my magazine and read and reread. The pattern was quite simple all the blocks were the same. It said refer to diagram. There was one diagram, but two lovely pictures of the finished quilt. Guess what everyother block went together a different way.....same pieces ...though weeew. ..

This goes to show make a couple blocks before you cut...
Most of the time you can check on line for any changes in magazine patterns before you start. I only have to resew two.

I always read, and re-read the patterns I make out of magazines. Learned to search to see if there are any updates if the pattern is an old one.
Well, Ok,,,,I am making a tote...let's leave it at....I WAS making a tote. I read and re-read, or so I thought. Need the tote done by Friday, which is tomorow for me and it is not going to be done. I'm thinking I am just going to NOT make it and bring the small quilt with me that I was going to tuck into the tote.

Hi I always make a sample of the quilt patterns using construction paper before I cut any fabric. My husband is a retired teacher and had a lot of the stuff around. It sews up well and you can write on it and use different colours to represent the different prints of fabric you are using. It's better than using up good fabric.

what a good idea sunflower, that way you can number and letter your pictures , make notes and then file the block away for further use. I'm going to use this tip. Thanks.
