I would love to make Christmas Cards this year. Anyone have any great ones from the past or ideas stirring around???

I could just do a fabric stocking over an existing card of some sort or do it all with paper from scratch. I just want to do something I can produce @75-100 in a week. (I don't work - so I can dedicate my days to it for a few days.)

Any ideas?

I have silkscreened cards (a lot of mess, as I recall, but very pretty).
Do you have any holiday rubber stamps? DD & I had lots of fun doing those a couple of times. Plain brown paper with repeated pattern is one idea, matte finish holiday paper overprinted, or a ready-made plain card with personalized embellishment.
Do you have a shape cutter? You could cut a shape from fabric to which you have already applied an iron-on backing such as Wonder-Under or Heat'n'Bond -- they work on paper, too.

On page 4 oldmountaincrafts recommended using Heat 'n Bond instead of the glue. I tried it, and it works great.

If you have an embroidery machine it is easy to do designs on card stock. The cards are really a convesation piece with this method and people will keep them.

One other idea..three D card ..useing store bought cards....

say your picture on the front of the card is a bell (starting very simple here) with a pointed item, maybe a round tooth pick or the likes, out line the bell.

Open and turn the card over placing it face down on to several sheet of paper towels. This is to cause a cushion but not too thick because with the next step you could punch through the card itself.

Using a rounded tip such as an empty ball point pen, begin filling in the area of the bellyou just outlined (as if you were coloring it).

This will cause the bell to push out some and when you look at it from the front it will be as the embossed cards you pay so much money for.

If you can't find and empty pen just use a regular one and then add another piece of card stock over the back where you were useing the pen. This will cover the inked area.

Anyway, just a thought. Good luck with your project what ever you do!

I'm in the middle of trying this now... Have to try heavier stabiliser and a smaller needle, but my first "test" piece is still usable.

Last year I sent fabric postcards as Christmas cards!

One year I made fabric yo yo's from Christmas print fabric. I attached a wire christmas tree ornament hanger to the top of them and glued 3 of them to the front of a cardstock card. I wrote "yo yo yo" underneath them.
I think I found the inspiration for this craft in one of the magazines. It was fairly easy to do.
