Could anyone give me some pointers. I have a bunch of old mens ties that I have washed and I'm ready to make a quilt or SOMETHING. Anyone have any ideas.

I have a whole box of them, plan on making clothing too and managed to get hold of a book (or 2), the title/s of which elude me at the moment as does the location. Would love to see your progress. Cheers, cb

Thanks for the sights. I went to quilbug.com and already have some great ideas. It's a great sight. Will check on the others.I will keep you updated. I'm going to head to Jo Anns fabric on the 16th when they have the interfacing on for 1/2 price so I can back them if I decide to do that. I love the crazy patch idea but who knows what I will decide on. Several ideas maybe.

Is there a difference in "Old mens ties" and "Mens Old Ties"??? I couldn't resist!!!

Point taken. Gave me a chuckle!!!!!!!!
Some came from the early 70's and worn by a young man in his 20's to my dad who was 89 and was worn this past year.

I just had to rib you about it. Just kidding of Course. I did start a tie quilt a long time ago. I guess I didn't finish it as I had forgotten all about it.

There is a book named "Memory Quilts in the Making". In the book there is a pattern for an unusual bow tie using mens ties. Most traditional bow ties are pieced flat. This pattern has a raised bow in the middle. It has to do with the way you sew the pcs together.

I've seen cute vests made with old ties too!

There are a lot of necktie quilts out there, and each has its own special qualities. Look around a bit, and one will catch your attention. Have fun

I really will have to look around like you mentioned. After looking at my ties and the weight, will really have to think long and hard before I start one.
