Making your machine as FMQ as possible
I have read and researched so many tips on setting up your machine for FMQ, a lot of them cost quite a few pennies but the one I like best, and gives me the best results is the cheapest, believe it or not!
It was only yesterday I realized how effective it was as last November I shelled out megabucks for a new machine and other than a charity quilt I haven't done a FMQ quilt project so I setup my machine to do my Brother's Birthday quilt, so I automatically did what I normally do, like polishing all the surfaces with a good quality silicone furniture polish, the difference was amazing, I didn't realize just how much it helps until I did it on this brand new machine. Forget all those fancy slip covers etc; just a good polish with a silicone furniture polish and the quilt glides like Torvill and Dean on ice, honest it really works. I am about a third way through and am quite pleased with the results, will post a pic before I post it |
What brand do you use? I am afraid to do this because it might leave residue and stain the quilt.

Yeah, what brand? I want to try that. I bought the plastic fabric and used it once over a table, but after being folded and put away for a while, it isn't slick anymore.
|
The chemicals in polish may stain the machine and quilt over time. I'm glad it's working for you, but I wouldn't like the chemicals around me, in the air or in my quilts. I love the Super Slider.

there is a silicone spray for machines out there. I just keep forgetting to ask my LQS if they have it. https://www.baysidequilting.com/stor...?idproduct=729

I used plain old Pledge. Works well and hasn't stained a thing.

I love your reference to Torvil and Dean! They were/are so amazing. Are they still skating? Glad to know about the silicone polish. Going to give it a try.

Never tried polish - I usually sprinkle baby powder and then wipe it all off - makes everything nice and slick and smells good too. :)
