March is National Quilting Month
Sewing, an Important Aspect of Women's History
March is both Women's History Month and National Quilting Month, so it seemed like the perfect time to find photos that depict some of our sewing history. Many of the pictures you'll see in the gallery are vintage ads for sewing machines, by companies that still exist and companies who've either gone away or are better known for other products. A few photos show women and their quilts and women teaching their daughters to sew. For me, finding the photos was definitely an interesting look back at a small portion of the tools and equipment that were available to past generations of quilters. I hope you enjoy the images. Are some of you familiar with the brands and ideas seen in these ads? It was very fun to look through the photos!

Yeah, I always wear my flounciest dress when I sit down at my sewing machine, right next to my harp! lol! It's a wonder they didn't sew their dresses into their quilts! Fun pics, thanks!
