I just got back from a garage sale that had quilting supplies. I bought a quilting pattern book, a non-slip ruler and a marking guide. The marking guide is medal and printed on it is ART NO. 134 TRAUM MARKING GUIDE. It has the markings for 12 inches on the longest sides and fraction markings on the short ends. There are cut outs of straight lines, dots, several sizes of half circles, a couple of corner angles and very small cut outs for a triangle, circle and square. Also on one of the long sides there are notches cut in out in inch intervals along the edge. It's about 13" long. I bought it for 50 cents, but the lady that does quilting wasn't there to ask how or what it is used for. Does anyone know and can tell me how to use it?

I can't quite get a mental picture of it, but could it be used for chalk marking a quilt for hand quilting?

My husband has my camera in his work van today. This evening when he gets home I'll take a picture of it and post it. It's metal and is about 13" x 3 1/2". Who knows what I just bought....ha! At least it was only 50 cents.

I want to see it, too!

Sounds like it could be very useful.

It may be some kind of architectural tool. But when it comes to quilting, I shop office, hardware, and many other stores for handy tools :D:D:D

I agree that it sounds like a drafting tool for architects.
I buy the plastic templates of various sizes circles and ovals at the office supply store for designing quilt motifs.
Many of those tools used in other ways are useful in quilting.

Here are a couple pictures of the marking guide. I'm wondering if it's a old sewing tool and maybe it doesn't have anything to do with quilting. Anyway if you know what it is let me know.

Don't know exactly what it's used for, but looks very handy. Play around with it and see what works.
