I use the Hera marking tool or water soluable artist quality pencils for my hand quilting. I also use masking tape for straight lines.

I use a clover chaco liner or painter's tape (the blue kind). I only do straight line quilting.

I like to draw my design on paper, copy it onto Sulky Solvy with crayola washable markers, pin it to the fabric then quilt. When it's done, I cut away the bulky areas and the rest disolves in the wash. It's clear, so you can see thru it, which is nice. This way, you don't have to worry that it won't come out of the fabric.

I use Pilot Friction pens from Walgreens or Office supply stores. You can either use the end and use like eraser or you can put the iron to it and it will dissappear. We purchased them at a quilt show and then found them for half the price at Walgreens.

Did you have a problem with yours? I have used mine on several different fabrics and had no problem.

I use Chaco also. I tried the pounce and threw it in the garbage. It is too messy, especially trying to store it between uses.
The Chaco is great.

Well I went to Joanns yesterday and they really had a poor selection of choices. I ended up buying a disappearing pen. Worked great on all the white fab and areas with white. But on the black fab it doesnt show up at all. It is purple and I thought it might but no go lol. If I get a chance this weekend I may go to my lqs and see what they have. I may try the chaco liners. Several people seem to like those. Thank you for the help ladies

Yeah it is. It said it would disappear within 24-48 hours. Its been about 20 and every single mark is gone! It also said it would come out with water. I tried that too. Worked like a charm!
