Marking on Wool

I have signed up for a BOM and it will have wool applique on it. How do I mark the wool? It has templates. A pencil wont show up, it isnt like cotton fabric in that I cant press down on the wool as the fibers dont like it, ( they fuzz up) so how do you do yours? It is the Edyta Sitar pattern Reaching Out. Anyone else here on the board doing it?

I draw the picture or shape on freezer paper, iron it to the wool and then cut out. You don't need to add a seam allowance with felted wool. I have never found a need to mark on the wool itself but maybe chalk would work if you needed to mark on it.

Thank you so much for your reply, I was beginning to think that either nobody did wool applique here or just didnt know.

Use chalk or a piece of soap that is about used up. Fons and porter show a couple of weeks ago had a tip instead of using a pounce with chalk dust in it on a stencil, to use a foam paint bruch. Dip it into the chalk dust and then wipe over the stencil design you are using. They were using a commercial stencil template. I don't know if it would work if you were to make your design on paper, stitch through it on your sewing machine, and then lay it on the fabric and brushh over it. I do a lot of work with felted wool, but haven't done anything that required stitching on the interior of the wool pieces.
