Sometimes if the top is starched too heavily, I have problems with it sticking.

Also, I have had problems with the spray if the can is not at least room temperature and the fabrics, as well. In other words, it doesn't work as well for me when it is cold.

No I didn't try spraying the top, maybe that would work seeing as how spraying the back worked pretty well. I should have thought of that. Thanks so much!

Good luck!

Thanks Kitsie, I'll check that out.

ali

Of course, duh, the batting would absorb the spray. Thanks, alikat!

Hope you can get it fixed! :)

Since spraying the batting didn't work, I'll try spraying the backside of the top. It could be the brand of batting I'm using.

what kind of batting is it? I know with polyester batting my spray doesn't work at all.

It is polyester, guess I'm gonna change to cotton batting if I can't make it work by spraying the back of the top.
Thanks!

Another interesting thread.....

I love Sullivan's, secure and spray the backing, add the batting, lay the top on the batting and fold back at intervals to spray the top and even out...had no problems. I use several large tables to accomplish this...

As others have stated here if it truly does not work with polyester batting it's just another reason to add to my list of never using poly batt. But I have to admit I am not in any way a polyester person regardless of what form it comes in...

This method works with my Quilters Dream Cotton, Wool and Orient battings perfectly.

Hoping you find a solution that works for you.

Thanks everyone for all your great suggestions. I finally got my gquilt layered. I folded back the the top and sprayed that instead of the batting and it seems to be holding pretty good. I think I may have to respray a few areas, mostly near the edges, when I start moving it around.
Right now I think I'm just gonna let it sit awhile.
Thanks again!
