Normally, and I do mean normally, when you purchase fabric from the store or from others, you get the full width of fabric when you are talking about a yard ...correct????

Yep, that's correct, only 1/2 of the width of fabric. Sooo while I am thinking I have 2 yards approximately 72 x 44 inches, I ended up with a piece 72 x 22 inches. Not exactly what I anticipated.

Regretfully, this purchase came a couple months ago and I "cleaned out" my PM's since the transactions had been completed.

I discovered this when I started today "sigh" doing all the "ruler" folding so my fabric will look nicer. Up to now, I thought it was a full piece of fabric that I had purchased.

Why would ANYONE think it was proper to cut it down the middle that way???? I can't think of anyone that buys fabric like that so why in the world would they sell it like that.

Opinions? Am I nuts in wanting the full WOF?

in answer to your question YES, when buying fabric that says 1 yard, it should be 36" by the width of fabric which should be 40-42"!

a yard of fabric is 36x WOF not 22 that should have been stated if you still had the info I would have check I know that some sales it has been stated that it was the 72x22 or such sorry that this happened to you.

the only time i've seen fabric sold like this is from japan and its intentionally designs that way because its used to make kimonos.

May I ask where you bought it? If at a rummage or yard sale the person marking it as 2 yards might have no idea what fabric is supposed to be. Maybe he/she found it and just marked it that way.

HOWEVER, even in JoAnn's you have to keep an eye on people. One cutter had no idea how to cut a 1/3 of a yard .

did you pay for the fabric via paypal, maybe you can find the person that way. I would hope this was an honest mistake, like maybe the person used this piece of fabric for border several years ago and didn't realize

It was from here (already tried to go backwards on PM's but had cleared them to clean out completed transactions.)

Also looked at feedback and I know it's not one of them...I didn't know to leave feedback for several transactions at first so I didn't have any left for me either...

I'm not so much worried about the actual cost, just hate that I didn't notice it at the time I received it so I could educate the seller at that time. The other time it happened, the person didn't realize what they were doing and refunded my purchase and I returned the fabric.

Oh well, I will try to remember to clarify this in the future but knowing me, I won't ask, lol, because I just presume everyone does it the same.

I just had it happen to me last week. I sold something and when I went to pack it, realized that one side of the fabric was gone - YIKES! - I had used it and forgot it was partially missing the back side of it.

What I ended up doing, was returning the payment to the buyer, but I also gave her the fabric...I felt super bad that I didn't notice it before I had put it up for sale.

Do you think the seller normally sold fat quarters and forgot these pieces were cut down to 22 inches??

I have had that happen to me on ebay. Before I bid or buy anything anymore I read and reread the description. It sure is a disappointment when you go to work with the fabric and there's not enough there.
