I wasn't part of the chat that night, so I need to ask....Did you paper-piece, applique, or what? (I recognize that coloring book design from when I was a first grade teacher. )

How about crayon work? I bet that would be sweet. At one time there was a very good tutorial on Simply Quilts, but I have no idea how to tell you to find it.

That would be a cute project for young children . I never done that either . I have dial up so I can't wat S Q's videos . I think I recall when it was on the show . I don't think hgtv has SQ archives anymore . I couldn't find it . The show archives that is . Let us see what you come up with .

I couldn't find SQ either, but this is what I recall. I did a project with a fifth grade class and it worked very well. Use REGULAR CRAYOLA CRAYONS. Iron the fabric (I used bleached muslin.) onto freezer paper. Trace or draw the picture with a regular graphite pencil. Color the picture with the crayons. Texture can be incorporated by placing the fabric over various textured items (rough sandpaper, textured fabric, get creative). When the coloring is complete, trace the lines with permanent marker (fine tip). Place heavy brown paper (paper sack with no print -- I used the inside of the sack) on a flat ironing surface. Place the colored side facing the brown paper. Iron with a hot iron (cotton setting). When the color no longer comes off on the paper sack, the color is set.

We did a project like this when I was in the fifth grade (and I'm 68 now). I remember my mother having that Christmas placemat around for years and years and years. It was laundered and didn't fade.

The project that I did with the fifth grader was: they chose a quilt block design (I had provided several choices.) They traced or free-handed it. Then they chose colors, etc. After all of the steps were completed, we made pillows. It was a very successful project.

I found it on hgtv.com. http://www.hgtv.com/crafting/crayon-quilts/index.html. I'm surprised I found it  When you go to S Q click on quilting collection . Annie

Annie,

I've had luck here finding the show description and then I go to SQs and use the title or something else from the description.

Well, I tried putting in the link, but the Russian cake contest link keeps popping up in it's place.

Try googling Simply Quilts Search Site HGTV. It list over 1200 of SQ shows with a brief description of each show.

Quiltkitty if you wanted the crayon quilt try this : Simply Quilts : Episode QLT-907 -- . This is listed under ' instructions " . I tried that link I posted , of all the crazy things . I got the same thing you got . If you know a quilt name you want to look up just use S Q " S search . That's how I found " Divide and Conquer " I was looking for . I am doing step # 2 [ seam covering strip ] this makes a reversible quilt . Made a boo boo when sewing my blocks I put the fabric for the seam strips on back of my 9 patch blocks now it blends in too much  Need to get something else for strips now . Oh , I have a headache . Have any advil ? Annie
