I went to a doctor appointment today. And this grumpy old man made me laugh. I was in the waiting area and an older lady with an appliqued bag that was beautiful, so I asked "did you make the bag?" She replied, "no. But I quilt." A gentleman sitting a few chairs away from us says very loudly, "Oh God, I am so glad my wife is not here (he was very distressed and shaking his head.) So we giggled and continue our conversation about fabric and quilting. He continues to mumble at us the entire time about how we never use our fabric and we just buy and buy and keep it in the way. The lady and I just laughed.

My dh was with me and was quiet the whole time but when we got to the car he said "I'm glad you use your fabric". LOL if he only knew exactly how much I had, I am unsure if he would have said that.

Men can be so funny when they don't understand our obsession with quilting. But what about the men that collect tools that never get used or fishing gear or hunting gear or what ever hobby they have.

What a funny story!!! :D:D
My husband is generous but also scatter-brained. I could buy anything and he wouldn't notice. I'm really grateful for that but I usually don't take advantage of it either :)
But every now and then I show him pics of board members stashes that are bigger than mine just to look good hahaha

I think if I had the whole garage and the big barn, and the den, to spread out my stash it wouldn't look like I have as much. DH's stuff is scattered all over and mine is cramed into one room. Thats why it looks like I have more than I really do. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. lol.

My hubby has a hobby that is more costly than mine, RC cars and one car can cost any where from $200 on up and the parts are not very cheap either. So I think we are even.

LOL my DH only knows about the fabric that comes in the mail when he's home. I so try to order so it comes on the days he works. He works different days, different weeks, so it makes it a little harder. But he doesn't say anything about what he sees, but then again, he doesn't understand how I love doing this so much. To him it's a waste of time. Maybe if I did one with all golf material, applique of golf clubs and balls, he might understand. That's on my list, but way down. LOL
