Found a Mercury Sewing Machine in an antique shop. Looked it up and found out it was made in Japan in the 50s...it's beautiful - looks like it was never used! Wondered if any of you have one or know anything about it?? I guess it was a Singer wanna-be back then, and inexpensive. They are asking $50. What do you think?

Sounds like a nice machine. I think I would try to get them to take less.

Never heard of this one. Will have to google and see what comes up.

Sounds like a Singer 15 clone. As a general rule they aren't valued really high, but they are pretty strong machines and work really hard. You can also sew through some pretty thick materials. I have a 15 clone that's an "International" and I paid $20.00 for it, but then we had to replace the power cord. It's worth what you're willing to pay for it. If it were me, I'd try and talk them down a little.

I think $50 is too much, but it sounds like a nice machine! :)
