If any of you are interested in teaching other techniques that I have not included, please contact me by PM and lets get it on the list.. I am not an expert in Paper Piecing, Machine quilting and many other techniques that you may want to learn…so your participation is required in the planning to help you get all you want from this experience.

OK, next step here is sign ups.. No Money yet..
I need to know who is actually going to commit ...

So, please read carefully the information, ask any questions you may have and let me know by post or PM if you are going to come.

We need at least 15 to make this work.. If we dont have that, I will re-plan based on what we get and let those folks know about flexible plans and costs...

shellyp 10-07-2008 06:49 AM

I just have a quick question about the deposit. If I go ahead and sign-up now, if in March I find that I can't go, is any of the deposit refundable?

Let me get back to you, this is really based on the policy of the bed and breakfast..

however I would advise you to purchase a travel insurance policy.. this works well if something comes up in your life that prevents you from attending after you have commited money to travel expenses

Missi 10-07-2008 08:11 AM

Wow - I live in Kansas finally something I can participate in living in the middle of nowhere.
And this might be a great Christmas gift for my mom. A great mom and daughter week away. When in June is my question?

HMK, I am from the West Coast originally and would be willing to organize one for you, but I decided to get this one under my belt first..
I have a tendency to take on too much...

IRR, Star block exchange and Retreat and I have only been a member of your board for a month...lol

I actually started looking for sites and had to stop myself..

However, if we get participants for this one and it looks like it is a go, Ill start thinking about one on the West Coast...warning, dont hold your breath, dont want you passing out before I get there...

Jstitch, how many people can this place hold? I know you said you need at least 15 to make it a go, but just curious?

Can we sew all night if we were so crazy and inclined??

Aggi, we can accomodate up to 40 people comfortably, if we get the reservations in....The Bed and Breakfast will rent the rooms we are not using so it is a first come first serve basis..

If we have that many, I will also rent both conference rooms..

Yes, you can sew all night it you want... but my room is right outside the conference room door, so,,, I'll be watching you...lol

Chele 10-07-2008 11:43 AM

Wow, you've done a wonderful job organizing the retreat! Thanks! What would be the closest airport to the B&B?

Dorothy of Kansas 10-07-2008 11:45 AM

Judy, I will be attending and my husband is thinking hard about coming. He has his own sewing machine, but has not yet used it. How much would it cost for him? If you are interested, I can teach a bias stained glass wallhanging class. Let me know, so I can get my act together. I usually teach beginning quilt classes...basics and more. I'm so excited. I can't wait to meet/greet everyone that is coming. I wish everyone could come. Can we make badges with our pictures on them along with our "online" names to help identify each other???

Don't know what the plans are for when we leave here. I do know that we will be taking a full 30 days of traveling. Will have to wait until we get settled where ever we are going and find out if hubby will be still going to sea or be on shore duty. Once we leave here, this will be his last tour to give him 30 years.

I plan on coming. I will be going south on I-35 thru Kansas City so if need be, I can pick up 1 or 2 from the airport.

Elizabeth A. 10-07-2008 01:19 PM

Sounds like you worked out a great deal.

collettakay 10-07-2008 02:54 PM

I just checked and it would be an 18 hr drive from southern Pennsylvania. I'll have to do some serious thinking about this. I would have to figure out someone to watch the kids while hubby works, too. Or keep them while me and hubby drive to KS.

Anyone else from the northern east coast going?

thimblebug6000 10-07-2008 03:36 PM

I'm kinda close to HMK on the West Coast.... I better go look at a map a little closer, but I'm pretty sure, as exciting as this sounds, that it's a little too far for me at the moment. 2010 BC is hosting the Olympic Games, not that it will affect me personally too much, but if you're thinking of doing a West Coast Retreat .... you may have to figure in the rise in costs that seem to happen when the games arrive in any given area.

Hmmm.... just looked at the map, guess I'd better wait until you plan a West Coast one.... BUT..... I really really hope you can pull this one together, as it just sounds like such a wonderful opportunity & a great price as well. I have been to quite a few retreats, usually for the weekend... our guild one here in Canada costs $275 we arrive at 4 pm Fri and leave at 2 pm Sunday and there is no scheduled classes, just do your own thing.

sandpat 10-07-2008 04:01 PM

I just know ya'll are going to have a great time.  ..wish I could join you...maybe sometime..

sewjoyce 10-07-2008 04:49 PM

OK, I can get to Wichta, Kansas. Will there be a van/bus to take us to Stafford??

Oklahoma Suzie 10-07-2008 05:02 PM

Wow, I would love to go, but my son is getting married on the 20th in Rhode Island. Maybe next time.

QuiltingTurtle 10-07-2008 05:14 PM

I sew want to go!!! I am more afraid of not knowing anyone. I mean I love everyone on here, but I get shy in real life!! Anyone else like that??

I am seriously thinking of this though. I will give an answer in the next little while.

I won't know anyone either!! But that's part of the fun :!:

Dorothy of Kansas 10-07-2008 06:12 PM

Quilting Turtle, your shyness wouldn't last long around such a great bunch of people...trust me. I'm usually shy, also, but when I met Judy, I felt so comfortable with her, you would have thought we had known each other for a long time!!! So, come on over, if you can and have a great time.

I used to be a very shy person, so I know of what you speak.

And, I am going to try to encourage you to come ahead. This is a small venue and a lot of the activities are on a one on one basis...and dinner is at regular dining room tables with just 4-6 people at a table.. very easy to get around. And I will have some helpers along with the Inn Keeper to attend to your every need.

Judy
