Hi there..............does anyone have any advice on quilting with Minkee backing? I have never used it; It seems very stretchy and I have pinned it well. Do you think it would FMQ well or should I just use my walking foot? It is a baby quilt for my niece who is due Dec.30. Thanks so much.

It's so cuddly ..... I'm thinking of using it on an adult quilt! |
i've seen lots of posts about it on the board. haven't seen much that is negative. i love the softness of it

Just ordered some from fabric.com -- they have some that's $8.40/yd. At 60" that sounds like a good deal. I have a baby quilt I want to use on it and like you have never used it before.
DId you use batting? I'm thinking of not - just the top and the minky backing. (If you order from fabric.com search for a code - retailmenot has one listed that saves 15%.) |

I didn't share it cause I didn't remember what it was! I figured anyone interested in it would look it up, but to save you the trouble I looked it up again... aband2011b
Free shipping if you spend $35. |
I have used minkee for a backing before and I used batting. It didn't seem to make it too heavy or anything.

Kathie - good to know - thanks. I live near Houston, but the quilt I want it for is going to Tennessee - so ... hard to know.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to quilt it this weekend so will let you know how I made out.

I recently saw a quilt at a quilt show that had minkee on the back, and the quiltmaker had made a comment that she had been pleasantly surprised that it had been very easy to quilt it.
