I need help I am going to be putting my log cabin blocks together and when it comes to the part of binding it I want mitered corners and no matter how hard I have tried to figure out how to do it I have not been able to figure it out. I am the type of person that needs pics so I am looking for a book to look at that would have step by step. can anyone direct me as to where I can purchase a book or if there is someone on here that has this kind of book that wants to get rid of please PM me. thanks to anyone who can help me out.

have you tried utube? i have found some very helpful tuts on there with a person actually doing it.

check the tutorials on binding here on the forum they will help. but good measuring marking works well for me (well, 3 corners out of 4...i can never get all 4) anyway. put a little dot (which you can see) 1/4" from corner. stop stitching on that dot. cut thread, turn the quilt and binding fold the binding up, then straight back down and start stitching, down to the next 1/4" from the corner, repeat ... looking at the tutorial pics will help this make sense.

Wish you lived closer! I'd come over & show you. Mitered corners are really so easy! (really), & they give a professional finish to your quilt.
Also work on a scrap piece before you go to your quilt. The practice will help & you won't have to do any frog work ('rip-it, rip-it')in case your first attempts aren't up to your satisfaction.

I have "The Ultimate Quilting Book", which I think I got off the sale table at Borders Books years ago. It shows all options, including wrap-around corners. I think that any good beginner's quilt book should have step by step instructions and illustrations for making mitered corners. I see basic quilt construction books at Joann's all the time, but I haven't looked through them.

I will have to see if I can find the ultimate quilting book online and get it . thank you very much.

Maggi McCormick Gordon. Copyright - Kiln House books 1999.
It is huge and is informative, but does not really get into how-to info. until page 228. The how-to, including color illustrations, goes to the index, at page 440.

Go into the search box and type in mitering corners. There is one tutorial there by PittsburghPam that is really good. (Entitled - How I miter my borders.) And there are MANY more! There is a wealth of info on this site. You just have to "search" for it. Good luck. I'm doing some today, myself.
