I am making a quilt or wall hanging, depending on how many blocks I get out of this fabric selection. Its cotton squares and flannel rectangles. Should I wash the flannel pieces separately before cutting? I can hand wash the 4"squares that's no biggie.

Personally, I'm not a washer...but with flannel, it's probably different. Be safe, wash it all. That way you'll know if the flannel is going to do anything that will throw off the quilt.
I just made a quilt in October with the monkeys...I did all blue/green/red/yellow as it was for a baby boy. Love the pink! |
I always wash flannel. It tends to shrink up a bit.

Thanks for the replies, I hand washed them all.

I don't wash most of my fabric but I do wash flannel. You just never know how much they will shrink. I love your fabrics.

Same as littlehud, I don't usually wash my fabrics, but always wash my flannels because of uneven shrinkage.
If the are 4" squares you do not want to throw them in the washer. Oh just saw that you hand washed!! Have fun with them! |
IMHO the flannel shrinks more in the dryer than it does in the washer

If it's flannel definitely.
