There are hundreds of the Mug Rugs on this board. Just search and you will come up with many of them.

You can start with any paper-pieced or foundation-pieced pattern in a 5-6" square and when you're done, just quilt and bind it.

I used orphan blocks. I just added batting, backing, quilted and bound. So easy, fast and used up odds and ends around my sewing room:)

It does not even have to be square.I just gave away a couple that were tumbling blocks variants, to made look like presents.
