Hello quilters!!! I am new to this quilt board. I know that I love the one I am in for the knitters, they are wonderful. I know this group will be to. My question to everyone is I NEED a simple music note theme quilt pattern to make as a graduation gift for my daughter who will be graduating from college with a degree in music in 2 years. I think that will give this beginner time to get it made. I have sewn garments mostly and am quite new to quilting. I am taking quilting classes now. But it has been hard or near impossible to find a music note theme quilt pattern, so I hope someone here can help me in time to get it done.
thanks

Joanne Fabrics has material with music notes and instruments on them. They even have music staffs.

Welcome from Kansas. Do you have any material with music notes? Or you could cut out a pattern and applique some blocks. Type music notes in the search above and see if anything comes up.

Welcome!! The warm wishes quilt might be a nice starting quilt for you.

Free at this site. You could get music related fabric for the focus fabric which is related to your daughter's specialty and two coordinating fabrics. The rest is a straight forward quilt - it assembles easily and quickly without messy points to worry about! Don't forget to post pics when you are done !!

Peggy -

Welcome to the board. I agree that it is much easier to find music themed fabric than to find a music themed pattern. My wife is a singer, so we have been on the lookout for a music pattern, but so far the only thing we've found is applique shapes of instruments. We have found lots of fabric, though. We have also made a quilt in a simple Turning Twenty pattern for a friend who is also a singer:

I hope you're able to find something you like.

Welcome from Oregon. I did a music note pinwheel quilt recently that was the same on both sides. It was fun and easy to make.

Welcome from Ohio.

Just wanted to share an idea. In the past I was able to find fabric that had a musical keyboard printed from selvage to selvage. This could be used as borders for your quilt.

If not able to find this locally then I would research fabric stores online. If you have a LQS ask then for guidance and ideas.

I have also been collecting music themed fabric since DH and I are both drummers for a local pipe band. I also love the dramatic black, white and red quilts, and have found several music fabrics that will work well for that look.

If you daughter is into softer colors, your options are more limited, but some do exist.

Applique could also be an option:
