My iron bit the dust
 

I have/had a Rowenta iron for quite a long time. I noticed the cord was kind of hot when I unplugged it today. It is in the garbage. I decided that I didn't want a fire like some of you have reported. A fire is one of the scariest things I can imagine and I told my DH that I didn't want to take a chance. He agreed with me. It has served me well, probably 5-7 years. I don't think I will get another Rowenta but something less expensive without a reputation for fires.

I have a Rowenta also and I think it is an awesome iron. Now to clarify, I only have a Rowenta because I got a fabulous deal on it, otherwise wouldn't have spent $30 on an iron. I have had no issues with it but I think that if and when it dies, (as I am sure it will; no iron lasts forever!) I am just going to get whatever is cheapest at the big box store.

it has changed my life after years of using the cheapest toastmaster iron made on earth.

I have a Rowenta that lives in the closet. My Black and Decker Digital Advantage stopped working after about 8 years, so I got another one because I like it so much. It has a "heft" to it and I don't mind that it has auto shut off because it comes back pretty fast.

I'm thinking Black and Decker. I will be shopping tomorrow since I just started a whole basket of fabric to iron and put away.

I researched the comments on Amazon for irons before buying the Digital Advantage from B&D. It has a very long study cord, smooth plate and heats fast. The only bad comment when I purchased was the water door was weak. I did not care since I dont use water in my iron.

I have the Black and Decker that Consumer Reports rated the best. Got it on Amazon.

I have a Black & Decker and love it.

As for the Olliso iron, it is expensive. It is also heavy, something you might want to know for when you want to lift it to your next portion to be quilted.

Went shopping yesterday and came home with a Black and Decker iron. I have used it once and it seems nice. I have decided not to put water in it and will use my spray bottle instead. We have well water and a water softener and I think that is hard on an iron. It was very inexpensive so if it only lasts a year I will have my moneys worth. (hope it lasts longer than a year though)
