I didn't pre-wash my fabric and last night while i was machine quilting, i noticed a red tint to my machine...any suggestions on how to get that off?

TIA

Have you tried the easy first - sponge & soap? I'd also try one of the Mr Clean or Comet sponges - they seem to clean everything and I don't think they're abrasive.

marsye 06-17-2010 04:25 AM

OOPS should do the trick.

taiboo 06-17-2010 04:26 AM

LOL, haven't tried anything yet, my first instinct was to come running to the boards LOL

I used window cleaner when I got red stain in my dryer from fabric. Took it right off.

Non abrasive hand cleaner ?

nursie76 06-17-2010 07:16 AM

Had the same thing happen to me. Used alcohol, worked great, but I wouldn't want to use it very often because they tell me it degrades plastic in the long run.

ToucanSam 06-17-2010 07:20 AM

What about vinegar? Just a thought...

sewcrafty 06-17-2010 08:07 AM

Maybe Awesome. You can get it at the dollar store.

amma 06-17-2010 08:59 AM

I would try Awesome before Ooops, it is not as harsh :D:D:D

How about tying to wipe as much as you can off with a cloth dampened with plain water?

craftybear 06-17-2010 02:26 PM

did you get it off?

they say that if you spit on stains, will loosen them up, try it

really!!!!

If you can find Fit Vegetable Wash, it will take it off and it's safe. It removed permanent marker from my textured white fridge door. I use that stuff for my kitchen cleaner. And it's wonderful to use to remove all the film from conditioners and soap from your hair. It's so safe you can drink the stuff.

Saliva is a powerful solvent.

Spit has enzymes in it to digest food so it take out a lot of stains.

wow. i would never have thought to use it in my hair. but it makes since.

littlehud 06-17-2010 07:15 PM

OMG I'm learning so much from this tread.

lab fairy 06-17-2010 07:50 PM

I would hold off on the vinegar since it sets some dyes. Before you start wiping the whole surface and maybe damage it, use a q-tip with whatever cleaner you are going to try. I'd try the water first (try the least damaging substance first then work your way down to the most). Always, test small first. Using chemicals of any kind can get unhappy results if you aren't careful.

sewnsewer2 06-17-2010 07:59 PM

Try a Mr Clean eraser. I some black marks from fabric off of mine with it.
