I had started a Weaver Fever months and months ago(Love, love, love this pattern!). Unlike the first two I made, I decided to use Batiks. I made a couple of blocks and I just couldn't stand to even look at them. I put them in a box and pretended to ignore them. I knew I needed to finish them because I just can't afford to have fabric sitting like that when I don't have money to purchase any fabrics.
I made a deal with myself. I work on these blocks for two hours, then I take my poodle pottie, and I can come on QB and play for awhile, then I work on blocks for a couple more hours. I also do leaders and enders, so I have 3 small baby quilt tops made for foster kids in the process of making this quilt top. Now I am using "Birdie" charm squares to make quickie four patches.
I lovingly call it my ugly quilt. The manager at Hancock Fabrics told me I couldn't call it that anymore! It really isn't ugly. I just know two things about me: 1. I like contrast. 2. I don't like dark colors. I like bright colors.
One more seam on each block and I will have all 30 blocks ready to put the top together! (Hopefully when it is finished I can sell it and have a little money to purchase more fabric.)

What do you do to make yourself work on a quilt you really aren't in love with.

Good for you to finish it. If I don't like something I usually stop as soon as I realize it and give up. I always cut my fabric as I go so if I give up I can use the fabric for something else lol. I figure a block or two of something I hate is better than a whole quilt! I think one day I just might sew all my ugly blocks that I gave up on together for one great big ugly quilt!

Kinda of like your were doing. Work on it for a while then do something I want to do. Switching back and forth. Works for me:)

I saw the UFO challenge when I first started here and decided that "come hell or highwater" I was going to finish them before I started another. I'm on my 4th one now, and it is just about done. I'm letting it set for a few minutes right now because it is not cooperating. Maybe we could do a UFO swap of some sort. You finish my agony and I will finish yours.

Don't know...that's why I'm reading this thread. I am really having problems getting a baby quilt done...don't know what is holding me back, but I shall read with interest and then just get on with it.

Well it sounds like you are almost done so finish it up, that way you can put it behind you. If you don't finish it, it will be a thorn in your flesh until you do.

Sadiemae, I love how you made a deal with yourself :) I'm also sure it will be nice but it's good that you figured out what it was that you didn't like.

Oh- when I have a project I don't really like I try to finish it, between things I really like, and lots of times when it's all done I end up liking it better :D

I grin and bear it...a push on. And somewhere along the way I realize that I have learned something out of this trip. Likd for instance what you said about " all I know is...". We learn from our mistakes...You won't do that again. And the kicker is when you get it all done and everyone else "LOVES" it. And just keep telling yourself. I'm almost done. :wink:

I have one of those projects going on. Mine however is still in the "UFO" container. I started to cut out the pieces and that isn't even done yet! I like your idea to get it finished. I will need to do something like that too. I've wanted to make this wall hanging for 2 years!! Once I got it all home I got busy and then just wasn't as enthused.

I'm pretty bad. If I lose interest in a quilt I just push it to the back burner.
I have fabric for 2 t-shirt quilts for a relative that are on my "not interested" shelf. I could get them done in a week or so but I just don't want to make them. But I will eventually.
Maybe this thread will kick start me.
