Who has done a mystery quilt? Were you happy with the results? I am interested in the concept, but would hate to spend a lot of time/money on a quilt that wasn't really "my thing" in the end, you know?

I've done one. I don't like to select fabric without knowing where it will be placed in a quilt. It's not my thing to do a mystery quilt.

I have a hard time with them too LOL I guess I need to know what the pattern is to pick out my fabric

I have done a couple before and loved the results. Whether or not you like the final product is a risk you have to take. Good luck on your decision.

I did one, but I cheated. I found it online after the mystery had been revealed. I liked the finished quilt, so I made it. It's one of my favorite layouts. I've made several of them as baby quilts.

I've done several and like doing them. The hard part is picking out the fabric. Some of the mystery quilt instructons are better at letting you know what tones or levels of color to pick. I love a surprise, so I find them fun to do.

I need to know what it looks like first. I need to love what I am doing or I can't stay focused.

I have done about 5 of them. I have done them with a group of friends/quilters from my church. We have a great time. Some I have liked more than others but had a great time doing them together with the other ladies.

I have done a couple and the results were great. Who ever is putting it on can kind of guide you with hints on fabric selection.

See, I'm like that too, so I'm afraid I'd have a hard time keeping going if I don't know if I love the final product or not.

Of course, I also like surprises, which is what makes the idea of mystery quilts intriguing.

I was thinking my MIL and I might do a couple together for charity quilts, since we get together and sew once a week or so.
