Need help 1st quilted quilt
 

Hi, I just got this first quilt off of my frame. I think it turned out pretty well for a first timer. The question and help I need is the measurements on the side. One end starts out 68 inches and the other end is 68 inches so it stays pretty well that measurement until the middle then it is 67 inches. So I would suspect it is 1/2 inch off each side in the middle, that is also how it looks. So do I trip the ends just a bit on each side to make it the middle measurement or try to hide it with a bigger binding? Thanks for your help. This is all new to me. Have you tried using a steam iron to try & gain a bit length in the middle part?

When you put your borders on did you measure thru the middle vertical and horizontal? I would trim when you square up. Just me. Hope helps.

Yes, this was a great quilt to work on, it was perfectly square and flat, I think on the side there it is take up from quilting, where I didn't notice it was bunching just a bit. So it is okay to just square it up a bit and bind it?

Donnajean, if I had noticed it when it happened I would have taken the stitches out there. I don't see as well as I used too and looking for all the different things I was supposed to be doing at once, I didn't catch it. It is stitched down there on the sides. Thanks for the help.

If it is a bed quilt I would just bind it and not worry about it. No one will ever notice. Also you may be able to block it so that you get some of the width back in the middle. It's a pretty quilt, and your black lines look very straight. That's the part that would be noticed if it were crooked. Overall - excellent work!

I think it really looks great. I agree I would go ahead and bind it. I do not think anyone will ever notice! Beautiful quilt and quilting!!!

I also agree. Don't worry with the little things. Just bind it and enjoy it. It's hard to remember everything to do.ha Barny

I think I would do both things. Trim a little from the corners at each end, then cheat a little out of the middle when you add the binding. You can also hid it with the binding by making a scrappy binding from all the prints used.

P.S. I really like the quilt, you did a great job!
