need help with crosshatching design

Hi Everyone,

I am working on a quilt for my daughter to give to her nephew that was just adopted yesterday. It has an emblem in the middle, and my daughter thought it would look cute with diagonal cross hatching so that it forms little diamonds. It is a twin size quilt and I have been trying all day to get it to work, but I can't make it work from corner to corner. We wanted to do an easy design, as I only have a week to get it done for her. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, Mark all around it at 1" or 1.5" depending on how large you want the diamonds......and then connect the dots side to side. If you try marking a diagonal x and then try to measure out from that, it will not come out in true diamonds. I always have to mark this way to get them all even otherwise they start to look like rectangles when I get to the corners.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family tree! I use the same method Holice had posted and have always had good results.

Okay, do I mark from the edges in or from the emblem that is in the middle of the quilt and work around that. I am just a bit confused.
