I knew I was going to have to eat my words after my comments on the 'stash or purchase' thread! Anyway, I have an opportunity to puchase a Kaufman's Bounty of Basics Fat Quarter Box Mixmasters for a decent price. The original price I would never go for but there is an approximately 35% discount and then I'll have another 10% off (pre-shipping, of course) so I would be paying about $169 for the set . I can't decide if I should go for it or not.
I am not one to stash fabric. However, I am currently on a rainbow/color spectrum kick. I was originally planning on doing something with a Kona Classic jelly roll (not purchased yet) but having the FQs will give me more versatility in selecting patterns than the strips. I do have an idea of what I want the quilt to look like in the end but I haven't found exactly the pattern I want yet. Also, I like that the Mixmasters are different prints within the same color range so I think it might give more variety than a straight solid. If you're not familiar with the Mixmasters here is a sample: http://www.etsy.com/listing/62549744...-in-purple-fat As a side-note and full disclosure I do have a rainbow kit which I have not started yet but the fabrics in the kit are not blenders or tone on tones they are regular prints. What does everyone think? |
lol, it starts ;-)

I think if you want and can afford it without hurting your household budget you should go for it.

Not everything has to be black and white. If you're flexible, buy the fabric. Don't kick your self....enjoy. You don't have not keep any....and you dont have to suddenly become a hoarder (like me)!!!

They sure look pretty.
I think FQs would be more versatile than strips, too. It's not my dime - you have to decide. |
Go for it!
