I'd like to find a spin star pattern that is Amish style with stars that are made up of squares and with a border on point in the middle that is made up of bars instead of the stars. If anyone has seen this pattern please point me in the right direction!

Is this the one you're looking for?

The only pattern that I have found that is anything similar is the one Ninnie suggested. I think that if you get that pattern and use it for the center, you can easily enough change it to have the border you want. This is another quilt that I want to make someday... just have to decide on a color scheme and find the right fabrics.

You are right, dunster, I like the other borders on the original Amish one better, and I think I can go ahead and make them. they don't sell the Amish pattern, I don't know why!

What a stunning pattern Ninnie!!! I think you would be able to change the pattern to more closely resemble the original too :D :D :D

I have the book the pattern is in. It's very complicated but more so in the layout not the sewing. The original pattern is by Barbara Schaffeld and her book is pages of tips and steps on how to construct this quilt. The book is called Hand quilt without a Frame, out of print now.

What a great book! Is it the same one as on the Amish site?

The picture looks like it's the same as the pattern with the miniature star spin fans around the border.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Yes, it is the black quilt shown on the Amish Lanes site. I'll continue to do some searching!
