I need help, Ladies!
My friend and are going to the International Quilt Festival in Houston in Nov. I'm looking at hotels online. All the hotels affiliated with the quilt show are sold out. Do you know if there are any nearby hotels that offer shuttle service to the convention center? Thanks SO much, Michelle |

Contact or check the web site of the organizers. Sometimes people rent rooms in their homes for big events like that. Is a long shot, but may be worth it.

I've never been, but I really want to. Have a great time!

I have a room at the Doubletree that I am going to cancel. It was less expensive for me to go elsewhere and rent a car for the week.

I just went in and pretended I was getting a room, and got one here for $199.00 a night with a king size bed. Keep trying. Cancellatations are happening every day.

I need a room with double beds. I was able to reserve a room 7 blocks from the convention center and it has a shuttle service on Friday, but not Sat.
I can cancel my reservation though so please let me know of any other tried and true info. Thank y'all so much! |
Also check with quilt shops in the area. They use to offer shuttle service. There is Quiltworks (281) 256-3550
at 290 and Skinner...so it would be posible to stay somewhere on 290, rent a car and take the shuttle in each day. I would offer a room but right now the casa is full that weekend. |
What do you mean by "true info"?

HAVE FUN !! Be sure to have your walking shoes WELL BROKEN IN. LOTS of walking..... I stayed with friends and rented a car. MUCH cheaper. Be sure to have a game plan with what to do each day. Plan to visit the local quilt stores. Time goes by so fast when you are on the convention floor.

Keep your cell phone handy, just in case you and your buddy are in 2 separate booths. Wear a special hat if one of you is short. Do not take a cart on wheels. Wear really comffy shoes. Vender are on 1 side and the quilts are on the other. Enjoy! THere is so much to see and take in.

who is going to festival on Thursday?
via a tour bus from San Antonio or surrounding areas |
Sounds like fun. Wish I was going.

Michelle, if you stay in the downtown area, taxis to any place in the downtown area are $6 a cab full, including to the convention center. So if two or more share a cab, it can be very inexpensive. Good Luck

Hi Michelle. If you stil need hotel rooms in Houston I have two that I just tried to cancel with hugh penalty because it was past 30 days. Maybe we can make some arragements if you still need one or two rooms.

We are going too... Got a hotel out near Bush Intercontinental though, and DH rented a car, so he can go do non-quilty things... I would probably expand my geographic area and look into cabs, our rooms were significantly less than those close to the convention center...
Have fun! |
