Need help with ideas for non-sewist group.
Want to do some type of group project at work using fabric. The group ranges in ages from 18-65, men and women and most non sewers. Thought about trying to do a wall hanging with all employees (18) making 1 block representing whatever they want, but sounds to difficult (sewing-wise). Does anyone have any ideas? HELP..

if you put fusible on the back of different fabrics in advance of the get-together. they could cut out whatever shaped they want and iron them on a different block?

You might try flower pounding (google it for articles on how to do it). One year we had a set-up at our quilt show where children were encouraged to try flower pounding, and later someone put all the blocks they made into a quilt. Everyone could optionally bring their own flowers. Each person could make a block, sign it, and you could put them into a quilt. You would be amazed at how much fun adults can have when they're allowed to whack at something with a hammer! It's a great ice breaker, and everyone laughs and has fun. (Everyone not doing the pounding gets a headache though.)

Thanks, that sounds do-able -that would eliminate me trying to explain how to use fusibles.

Does it have to be with fabric? Goggle: iris paper folding. It is similar to paper piecing but done with paper instead of fabrics. It is really addicting and easy for any age or ability.

Wreaths made with a styrofoam base. Cut fabric squares with pinking shears and then using a screwdriver push them into the styro wreath until full..can be done with any holiday fabric, or just scrappy for everyday use.

another thought would be to have color crayons to put pictures on fabric. use them to make quilt tops or put them together to make wall hangings. we have a group in my town that uses kids pictures and makes quilts for kids or elders. i did the same thing for a retired teacher.... he loves his quilt and has it hanging on the wall above his bed. there are always babies, kids, adults of all kinds who could use a quilt top to wrap up in and think that someone cares..
