so I'm trying to copy and paste a design from a CD to my USB memory stick to put in my embroidery machine. Technically when I put the stick in my embroidery machine, I go to the USB drive and click on MY DESIGNS. The design that I copied and pasted is suppose to show up.. It's not!!! HELP!!! Why is it not showing up???? I'm going NUTS!!! There are sooo many designs I want to try and it's just not working!

I don't have this machine, but maybe these forum threads will help:

You may want to check the file extension that the design was saved as. Your machine may only detect certain file extensions. Also, check to make sure you truly saved the design to MY DESIGNS. If it the correct file extension in the correct folder it should appear for you. Ask me how I know  I have Embird and that was a serious learning curve!

HTH,
Cindy

ETA: You would need an additional program (like Embird) in order to convert file extensions to something your machine can read.

I did some research and found that your machine reads .jef extensions. Check to make sure that the CD of designs includes that extension and check that you are indeed copying the designs with the .jef extension.

I have a Janome 350e. When you download a design in a zip folder besure and right click and extract the designs. Also make sure that you put just the designs in my designs and not the folder they are sometimes in. When I download designs I right click on the design, click copy then open my usb stick, open emb5 file them open my designs and then right click and paste the design. Hope this helps. Kacy

I was also wondering if there is some kind of chart out there that can give you the corresponding "Sulky" colours to what the Janome embroidery colours are? I'm finding I'm getting the wrong shades of colours especially in a Santa face I tried out last night.

Thanks again everyone for all your help and suggestions!

My thread box is a good program to use. You can get a trial version to see if you would want to purchase. I also believe that Floriana has a free program. I usually go through the design and choose the colors for the different parts that I want to use. You can look at each part by using the icons in the middle of the screen of pages and arrows. Also there are several yahoo groups you can join that will help you learn to use your machine. I also belong to artisticthreadworks.com embroidery site which has been a tremendous help to me for the past several years. You can sign up for their news letter for free and will be able to get some designs each time it comes out. Kacy

I ended up doing some research on the Janome chat forum and found a conversion chart for several different threads. I printed off a copy of it and will keep it next to my machine at home.

Thanks for the suggestions Kacy!!

Cheers
Andrea

Don't remember where I got this, but found a chart I had downloaded with colors for Floriani, Sulky & Janome cross referenced. I'm attaching it to this message. It's a pdf file. Please let me know if it does not come through. Thanks, and I love this message board. I don't write much, but lurk daily!
