If any one has any ideas on what i am doing wrong.
A long time ago I googled for instructions on a machine and found it.
So try that. I dont remember where the site was.
You can download a PDF copy of the manual from the Brothers website, just google your model number and it will pop up! I had to do the same thing for the one I just got too :)
One possibility is that you have the wrong bobbin for the machine. The machine could have been at the auction because the owner mixed up the bobbins with another machine and never could get the machine to stitch right afterwards. I mention this because that is exactly what happened to a classroom machine that was given to me to fix. The plastic bobbin for this machine was just slightly different than the bobbin that was actually in the machine; someone in the classroom had put the wrong bobbin in.
I looked up that model here:
and it looks like it takes a class 15 metal bobbin. Is that what you are using? It's also possible for a bobbin to become distorted so, even if you are using the correct bobbin, you might want to try winding a new one. Sometimes even new bobbins are distorted from the factory.
Excellent information about bobbins, Prism99 . We often neglect to even consider they could be our problem. Either wound incorrectly, put in backwards, not in "all the way", or distorted.
Yep, check the bobbin, a friend had troubles with her machine and the bobbin she was using wasn't even the right one. She also had a really big (thick) needle. All I did was re-thread it + use the correct bobbin + size 11 needle. Magically it sewed beautifully.
