Need help please

A while back, someone posted several pictures of the same quilt in different colors. I jotted down basic info, but now am having a problem actually doing it. It was sewing 5 2.5" strip together, then cutting them at 10". Put together one horizontal, one vertical, etc. I have done all of that, but here is the problem. The picture had sashing. Since these pieces are 10" one way and 10.5" the other way, how can they be sashed since they are always 1/2" off?

I'm wondering if there's a mistake in your directions... Since you're sewing 5 2.5" strips together, you would have an extra half an inch width-wise, which would be your .25" seam allowance at each edge. So, are you supposed to be cutting them at 10", or at 10.5", for a finished block of 10"?

Also, the name of the quilt and/or links to pictures and the original post would be helpful... :)

I'd measure the height of the sewn together strips and cut your blocks the same width so they'll be square.
