need help
I finished a yo-yo throw. this will be my first throw. I'm wanting to back it with flannel. my question is do I tie down all the yo-yo's to the flannel backing? I'll be adding a few stitches to the outer yo-yo's by hand. hope I explained this that it makes sense. appreciate any and all help I can get.

I haven't done this but I read that you can sew the yo-yos along the perimeter and then tack them down as needed. I think every 4" should be plenty.

I've never done this either, by why couldn't you just stitch rows horizontal, vertical, diagonal or whatever works...

I finished one for a friend (all polyester) and tacked each yoyo down. They were on the larger size and heavy. Just try what looks right and decide what will be best for your quilt.

thanks everyone for your help and advice. I'll post a picture when I get it done.

I have seen the yo yo quilts both ways - with and without a backing. Many of the older quilts had no backing but were placed over a colored sheet (or white) on the bed. Those with backing had minimum tacking to hold the two layers in place. Is your choice and probably depending on the use.
