Those are marvelous. I would pair them with darker batiks, unless you do want a pale quilt/baby something. For me, the easy choice would be something like my "Melons in the Batik Patch"
Oops, I can't get my pix to upload. |

Another UFO completed! If you search under Melons in the Batik Patch, you will see it. |
Why not scan through the video tutorials on Missouri Star Quilting. Jenny has some on Layer Cakes and her directions are great!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jackie,
They would look wonderful as part of a log cabin block. Here's the link to the Log cabin quilt I made. http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/...45965719DlMMXA Sharon |
See Jenny's tutorial for a chevron quilt at Missouri Quilt Co. You will need some darker colors to make it pop. froggyintexas

I was given a layer cake package as a gift. It contains 20 of the palest batiks I have seen. They are very pretty but what do I do with them? Anyone suggest a pattern? What color background would make them stand out?

WOW those are beautiful. If you can't figure out what to do with them, send them my way....just kidding. I would pair with same color only darker batiks.

Oooh, I like this idea... put them in rows according to color and possibly make simple strips at a diagonal, or 4 diagonals that meet in the center. Or even a single log cabin that works around, blending the colors inwards.
