Need an idea for a fleece quilt
 

I have 2 kinds of fleece - one a large print, the other a solid. I want to make a quilt, but not one of those tie quilts. Any ideas??

I trimed off the selvages, cut them the same size and then used the largest blanket stitch my machine would make and did the blanket stitch around the outside. No getting tangled in the fringe.

use large squares or large HST and 1/2" seam allowances... decide on your pattern and then open the seams and use a deco stitch to sew flat... i might turn some seams out and some in just to keep it reversible...

I place the two sides together, sewing all around, about 2" in from the edge. I use a small zig zag stitch. Then, I cut the fringe about 1/2" wide all the way around. Looks neat with the two-colored fringe.

I have done quite a few quilts using fleece. I usually use a fleece panel of some sort and then back it with flannel backed satin ( normally found in the children's sleepwear dept.) The flannel side clings to the fleece and the satin side makes a nice contrast to the fleece. It also comes in the 60" wide like the fleece. Then I machine quilt and bind it just like a regular quilt.People seem to love the finished product. I will attach a pic for you. The one pictured has the long curly fleece as the binding, tricky to use but very effective.

I would get some coordinating flannels and do a pieced flanned top (like maybe rail fence, or something) and then back it with a piece of fleece. Tie it and then bind by bringing the back to the front. (By tying, I do not mean the cuts around the sides that are tied.) I have done 3 fleece and flannel quilts and they are the favorites at our house!

I saw a really cute one a Grandma made for her teenage girls. Back to back fleece....one solid one print. Couple of criss cross seams and 2" inch fringe tied all around made multi color edging. Not the kind of thing I would have thought of girls loved it!

I cut my print one 2" smaller than my solid and bring the solid edges up over the print edges for an 1" wide fake binding with mitered corners. The fleece is clingy so I don't tie it or quilt it. I stitch close to the edge of of the 'binding' with a narrow zigzag, Very finished looking and wears like iron. I think I can find a picture if you need one.

Like a raggy quilt, 12 inch squares, 1/2 clips.
