Lots of cute girl fabrics out there. Do you know what colors she wants? I have seen winnie-the-pooh fabrics, butterfly fabrics, fairy fabrics. And they are not only in just pink, but purples, yellows, greens. There is lots to choose from.

I made a Bento Box quilt in fabrics from the Robert Kaufman Roses collection. I used the pink paisley, a cream that has taupe roses on it, a cream that has pink roses and green leaves, and a green paisley. Then I quilted it in hearts and leaves.

This one is on my future project list and it's a good design for a little girl to grow into.

I have a problem doing pink and floral fabrics, so I would just do fabrics that might appeal to girls (some suggested above). I would think about a tumbling blocks in purples.

One of my favorites is Spring Splash from McCall's Quilts - its a free pattern - very quick and easy.

Check out Moda Bakeshop for some inspiration. Here's a link for the baby/kids section:

It's a pretty and easy pattern Lucky Stars is a versatile pattern This one is just circles appliqued on square background. I love the pinwheel and have always wanted to make it. I was also thinking of something with circles. Thanks for the ideas!

I had the opposite problem. I have a baby quilt made, but everyone says it's kind of girly. I tried to make it neutral and used teal, green, and yellow for the blocks. Got an invitation to a baby shower for my cousin's son and wouldn't you know it, they are having a boy. Wow, good excuse to buy blue fabric. Had an awful time finding a pattern, and got the fabrics on Friday. I needed a very simple pattern since the shower is March 16. Their "theme" is pirates, and very few patterns fit the bill for that pattern. I have the center panel finished, and just have to add 2 or 3 borders. I think I will make the deadline, but don't like having to rush. Wish me luck.

If the mom isn't excited about a really pink quilt I did one with some adorable fabric I found at Joanne's. It has a green background with butterflies and lady bugs and the words "girl bugs". Very feminine without screaming pink!

here's a pic of what I like to do for a girl. it goes together really fast. You can leave the picture out and the 'B' doesn't have to be there either.
And another: This one is really fast, just four ohio star blocks. Float them so you don't have to worry about the points and add a couple of borders. Done and cute! |
I have one more . It is my favorite little girl quilt. Had trouble loading it so trying again. I hope this works.
