Need Ideas for Modern Quilt
Hi all,
So...I have this wonderful Kate Spain Terrain fabric, and white fabric and grey fabric and I want to make a wonderful modern quilt. I have a few patterns, but one entails cutting out 196 small pieces, and the other is big strips, and I think I want to do something like a pinwheel, but not the pinwheel. I have been really frozen on this, I don't know why. I think it is because I love the fabric so much, I don't want to do something and mess it up. Is there another name for when the pinwheels are turned the other way? And does anyone have anything that would be really blocky and fast, with big piecing if any at all, that I could put sashing in between? I am thankful for any ideas - Nancy |
Perhaps try one of the BQ patterns? Uses big squares too~

Nancy check out this pattern, it has a modern vibe and I think it's one that really showcases the fabric.
www.cottontailquiltshop.com Pattern name: "Much More Than Squares" It's made with 18" squares and it's quick and easy |
What about a Turning Twenty....it looks like modern art to me :D plus it would show off your fabric...Just MHO
Looks similar to the ones mentioned above |
How about the Turning Twenty Again. the only seam to match up is the 4patch.. I made one out of yellows gray, blacks.. its quick and easy :)

I just had a thought @ aboutquilting.com they have the big blocks, they have summerwind and Handy Andy.. they are big 18 or 24" blocks.. and they make very pretty quilts for showing off fabric, quick and easy too.
