Need ideas for pattern

I was given a challenge today to make a charity quilt from some donated bits and pieces. Those I chose to work with are in the pink/lavendar family and feature fairies and ballerinas, the largest about 4" and the smaller about 3" for the figure, which then have some minor background pattern. I had some stash that will work with these pieces, but cannot figure out what pattern to use without cutting into the figures. I don't think something with bitty pieces is the right direction, more like something toward attic windows but not so "dramatic". Anyone have a pattern suggestion?

Would Warm Wishes work with your fabrics? You could use the figure square as the focal fabric with scrap strips on the sides. You could also browse www.quiltville.com for some great scrap quilt ideas. You could also do the Mile A Minute blocks, I think they are called. It is kind of like log cabin but with random widths and strips.

I don't see the Mile a Minute working, but the Warm Wishes is a possibility. I would need to cut a bunch and play around with the 3 or 4 "main" figures. I will keep investigating; thanks for the ideas.

I found a pattern that would be darling -- "Project I Spy". I shall have to see if I am skilled enough to pull it off.

just frame them- or maybe square in a square? something simple-
sometimes it's too easy to (over think) a project- keep it simple and it will be wonderful!

The I Spy pattern I found has appliqued magnifying glasses that appear to pick a figure (like my fairies) out of a busy background. I am going to try that...
