I have a request to make a queen size (100 x 100) quilt for a friend. She wants the center to be the Texas state flag, blue bonnet flowers to be somewhere on it and the rest is up to me. I've only quilted two quilts - wall hanging and a twin size. I designed the twin size, but could use suggestions on this new one. I want to keep it rather simple but pretty. I know there is blue bonnet floral fabric out there and will most likely use some of that.
Any thoughts :?: TIA

here is a block called blue bonnet not sure if you call it simple but it's stunning. You could surround the flag with these blocks and then find out the borders. I don't have EQ to help with the layout. sorry.
I wish you luck - 100x100 is alot of quilt to come up with an idea.

How do you feel about wrangling a much larger quilt on your machine? Maybe a quilt as you go? The center panel and then adding on the two sides?

I think what you are looking for is a medallion quilt. That is a large center square (medallion) surrounded by one or more borders. These work up nice when doing a square quilt. Google "medallion quilt images" and look at all the inspiration! Have fun! :D

Thanks for the info. I checked out the site and did get some ideas. Since the center piece is a rectangle and not a square I will need to adjust the design I make, but it's do able.
Does anyone use any quilt design software programs to design their own quilts? If so - which one(s) do you recommend?
