need ironing board info please
Where can I find a good ironing board that doesn't have a bunch of holes underneath the pad? Mine is falling apart.
Thanks. |
i just buy them at yard sales and have several good ones...i use them for folding tables all over the house....

I got my ironing board at a yard sale for $1, 15 years ago. I'm pretty sure it is from the 1960's. It is far better than the ones I see now. Thrift stores usually have the older, better made ones.

Yard sales, Goodwill, Salvation Army, thrift stores, Craigslist. I especially like the extra wide ironing boards with the attachment on the end that holds the iron. I found one of those in a thrift shop.

Thanks everyone! I'll try yard sales and thrift stores. Not happy with the ones in the stores now a days. Mine is wobbly and the foot caps are missing LOL.

I have a Rowenta ironing board that I love. It is very sturdy and extra wide. Try places like Bed, Bath and Beyond if you can't find a good vintage board. (I do not like Rowenta irons but do love the board).

I have had my ironing board for 45 years (got it when I got married.) I replaced the rubber leg tips a few years ago and have had several new covers over the years. It is metal and has some rust on the little holes on he board. No problem. Hope you get a good one!

I have a "hand me down" from my mom, that I grew up with...the only one I ever knew existed! She bought it at the Good Will or the Salvation Army store wa-a-a-a-ay back! It is narrow and it is made of wood and I love it!
I tool it totally down to the wood top last year and found part of a wool blanket for a layer against the wooden top....then a couple of old sheet layers...no telling hoe old....and then a layer of domestic and then a layer of the heat resistant. I took some cotton batting and put a couple of layers and then put a new cover that was a June Taylor with sewing stuff printed on it. It stays up in my sewing room and really looks cute and fresh now. I don't like the really wide ones....DH made me an 18" x 18" board which I covered and it fits very securely over the ironing board so I can press larger items or press applique'. This one has wood legs and all and is a treasure to me. |
