Need Juki help
 

Is there anyone here who uses their Juki on a quilting frame...my juki seems to be cranky at times and I can't figure out why. some times proforms perfectly and then loops and tangles on back...do you have this problem? Is it the different threads,batting,bobbins? very puzzling

i use my juki on a hinterberg frame with the cruise control. it works great except for an occasional thread break. i use a cardboard side prewound in the bobbin.

What you are describing is the classic symptom of not putting the presser foot down (ask me how I know). If it sews well most of the time, then all of a sudden you get loopies on the back, check that. You can also check to see if the thread came off the take up lever.

I have a Juki that I use on a Grace frame. I am completely self taught. I had a lot of problems when I first started. I had problems with top thread breaking and bottom thread tangling. It seemed like it took me a long time, but I finally have everything working well. Here is what I do:
I use sewer's aid on the top thread
I use a size 14 needle
I use bobbin genies in the bobbin case
You could also be having a problem with your tension. There should be a section in your manual that shows examples of what the stitching should look like on the top and bottom. You can use that to try to determine if you need to adjust the top tension or the bobbin tension. You may need to adjust both. If you have already followed the directions on making sure the bobbin case is adjusted correctly, I would start by making a small adjustment on the case. Then I would do a test stitch. You may have to do this several times before you see a difference. You can do the same with the top thread. This may take some time and patience, but pretty soon you should see enough of a difference in the stitching that you will get a feel for what needs to be done with the tension.

I have a Juki on a Handi-quilter frame and had similar trouble. My tension was off and after I fixed that, it seems to sew great.

I had two Jukis and still have one. I don't use it on a frame. Seems the tension must not be right and that will cause problems. Doesn't make sense to me that it would matter on or off a frame.

after much tweaking I think I have found the problem....complete started at the being, cleaning oiling etc....changed the needle to a size 18 and "she" took right off...behaved perfectly. LOL I really do tend to forget changing the needle after a time of continuous use even in my every day machine. sometimes the simplest is best...not the machines fault...thanks everyone, juki's are usually such work horses...Happy Thanksgiving

I was having trouble with my Juki on the frame and couldn't figure it out. Finally, I changed the tread and it works like a dream! I agree-Juki's are work horses and I was really dreading having to send it out for a check-up, especially right in the middle of a quilt!
