Need larger version of this.
 

I am new to all this and you guys have been absolutely fantastic answering all my questions.:thumbup: I have yet another one.

I want to make this design in a 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" box: http://quiltingstencils.com/simplepinwheel35.aspx

Do any of you know of anywhere that might have sizeable template so that I can customize? Or anyway that I can make this? I have hand tremors and can't use Paint to draw with.:( I know this block size is not normal but that's how this panel came. I don't mind paying the small amount for this template but don't know if it can be resized.

Buy the template, trace it on paper. Then take to a copy shop and have the re-size it.

I assume you don't have a scanner. There is a math formula that would tell you how much to enlarge or decrease a block. I use my scanner all the time to change the size of quilting stencils. Usually, the people in office supply stores can help you figure out the difference. Enter 5.25 and divide it by 3.5 and you would enlarge the 3.5" by 1.5 or 50%. I haven't done it in a long time so I hope I am posting the right info. The older I get, the more I forget !! Good Luck !!

Sorry I would just copy and print then see how much I need to enlarge. And do a copy on the printer and before printing do an enlargement to the size you require. 105% 110% ex.

This is really great. Printed it out. I'm always looking to change block sizes.

I just checked this site, and selected all views. about 3 pages into the various templates photos, there is this same picture in a 5" pattern. Why couldn't you go with that and add 1/4 or whatever you needed. if you want to order this, or do as others have said, enlarge it on your printer or at a photo shop to the size you want.

I was going through this site, and on the home page there is a note as to what size stencil you need according to your block size. Perhaps this info will help you to decide on the stencil size. I looked at all 1889 stencils on this size and finally found a stencil for a hummingbird, that I have searched for - Hooray!!! Thanks for the site. Good luck

Hi from North Dakota, what a fun, my name is also Aemilia and I go by Amy also. Hope someone can help you with resizing the template.

Trace it right off of your computer screen and enlarge it on your printer until you're satisfied with the size. I do it this way all the time.

Sometimes you can go to Home Depot and they will cut plexiglass to the correct size. Hen just take it home, run an Emory board around the edges to reduce the sharp edges and it is much cheaper. I did his for a 5" and a 6" square before they were available.

Thank you all so much. Don't know why I didn't think of copying and enlarging or printing and enlarging. I teach software applications so I should've thought of this. But in my defense, I do see this sort of thing all the time. When learning something completely new, students tend to loose sight of the obvious.

Whenever you need to re-size something, here's the easy math to do it:

(Finished size you need / Finished size you have) * 100

Example:

Need larger copy:

You have a 5" design, but need to enlarge it to an 8" design. (8/5) * 100 = 160%. If you put your 5" design on a copier and enlarge it 160%, you should end up with an 8" final design.

Need smaller copy:

You have an 8" design, but need to reduce it to be a 5" design (5/8) * 100 = 62.5%. Put your 8" design on the copier and hit reduce by 62.5% to get your 5" design.

you obviously have a computer. just download irfanview. its free. If you have the design in your computer already, just click on the design, then chose open with irfanview, go to image, then down to resize/resample, then a box opens that about half way down on the left you will see where you can ask for pixels or inches, choose inches. now in one of the boxes put your 5.25 if the box preserve aspect is marked it will automatically change the other so the proportions are correct. Now you can save it just like any other document. If it's not in your computer, it can be saved directly from the site you mentioned. right click on top of the picture - then when your choices come up, choose save picture. Put it where you can find it again and start the open with irfanview process. WALA
