I just joined a quilting class. Instead of 'uprooting' my Baby Lock Espire from it's place in my sewing room, I would like to get a small Janome. It would be convenient and much easier to handle. Any feedback is appreciated.

I have the Janome Gem. It's sews great and is very portable. I use it more then my Featherweight for taking to classes.

I absolutely love my Janome Jem 760 Platinum. It is a fabulous little machine at only 12 pounds. I do all my piecing on it and I plan to take it cross country to a retreat this fall.

The one I found is the Janome Sew Mini. It is less than 5 pounds and all I will use it for is piecing. I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I also want something that works well. I know Janome is a good brand.

Will you piece your whole quilt with this one machine? Apparently it's the best thing to do, using one machine so there won't be any differences in the ¼" seam used.

I just got a Kenmore 190110 (made by Janome) recently for my portable machine. I have a Janome 6600 as my main machine. The Kenmore really does the trick because its light and portable. It was really reasonably priced at $250. And the great thing is that I can use all of my Janome feet and parts with it also.

Hadn't thought about that! I suppose I could be working on 2 quilts. One in class and one at home.

My Grand daughter has the Sew Mini. I take it on vacation but it seems to sew a little slow for me. ( Perfect for her though )
