Need Pattern Idea
1 Attachment(s)
I received this as a gift for helping someone clean a storage shed. The colors are so beautiful, but I don't know what quilt to make. I know ya'll will have some super ides...so put your thinking caps on.
thanks! |
Oh yeah....there are forty 2 1/2" strips and I do have most of these colors in my solids bin to add to them.
Log cabin comes to mind or what a great strip quilt this would make
Id just drool over them for awhile.
Please show us when you're done |
Go to the Timeless Treasures website and look at their free patterns. I saw several that use the tonga treats that were just beautiful. Maybe you would get some ideas.

How about this? I'm taking a class using this pattern and maybe I'll use these. (You just inspired me!!)

French braid?
I made a zig zag quilt with Tonga treats. I used 2 packages, one color and one neutrals.

How about Bento Box? Just add some white strips.
There are some cute ones here, Gumdrops or the sugarplum would work well, you would just have to add a plain fabric http://www.fatquartershop.com/Free-Q...es-Fabrics.asp
I don't have any suggestions but what a nice appreciation gift, beautiful fabric.
You might go visit the Missouri Star Quilt Co. site and look at their Jelly Roll and 3 Dudes video. It might be really stunning in your fabrics. Wish I had their website handy, but I don't. Easy to google though, if you are interested.

I think they would make a stunning French braid with either black cornerstones or that deep purple, using them in the order you have there.
I have an October 2000 McCall's magazine with a neat quilt that would look great in those fabrics. It is by M'liss Rae Hawley and I think I found the same quilt on her Facebook page but in different colours. Check it out, it is log cabins with shooting stars around the outside border. I'll try to post a link http://sphotos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...50262517_n.jpg

Wow!! I just got home to my computer and found all of these wonderful ideas! I went to the Timeless Treasures web site and found two I really like. Outside the Box and Chaos at the Courthouse (which I really like..but would have to buy the Pink Lemonade to go with it...oh darn). I like the Bento Box too. I like the strip idea too! I like all of them...oh woe is me!
I vote for a bargello! :)
Ohhhh...me too!
Why not a Bargello quilt
Yeah, I'd eyeball them for a while..so beautiful!!! Eventually I'd make a strip quilt or log cabin....light to dark...
I'm making a French Braid, too, and think those would be perfect!!
I just can't get past being jealous!!! LOL Whatever you make, it will be beautiful!!
The minute I saw them and realized they were strips, I said 'Bargello" !!!
The1600 top is quick and easy and makes a throw size top. I recently saw some embellished with raw edge flowers scattered over the top or one big bloom on a stem with a couple of leaves. Just Google 1600 in. Quilt to see the process.
would make a beautiful french braid
I really like the jelly roll (1600) quilt. There is one posted on here using the same colors and she called it the LASAGNA QUILT. It is beautiful...that may be what I do. Just have to make a decision and go with it!
Thank you all for so many good ideas! I knew I could count on this board! |
How about a chevron pattern with white or black as the contrasting fabric? Such pretty colors!

I second the idea of the Missouri Star Quilting Jelly Roll Race quilt, except recently a friend of mine has made several and at the end of every strip she put a 2 1/2" black square. When you sew it all up it is awesome!!! She used solid black on the ones she did, because it worked, but you can use whatever color you want. Looks fantastic!!!!

I like this idea! I also love Bargellos...however, I have two patterns I purchased and had to hide in a drawer because they were staring and daring me! My skill level is not up to trying one yet! |
There is a New York Beauty sew along on this board starting October 1, 2012. I think these would be ideal for that.
There's a great French braid pattern using batiks in F&P Sept/Oct magazine this month. Done in tones of reds. Have fun making it -- I'm sure it will look awesome no matter what design you choose.

Those would make a great bargello or Trip Around the World pattern quilt.
Lasagna quilt. I have almost the same colors cut to make one. And it is quilted as you go. Love that.
Wow they are pretty. Good luck and let us see
just send them to me. i will find a good use for them and give you a picture. ha ha

I love Pickety Sticks; fun, fast, and easy.

Scroll down to Paint Box quilt. I've made one, easy and very pretty, and it's free. |
I don't see how you could go wrong with any quilt! The colors are glorious. Perhaps a pattern that you could use the same block, but grade it from the top corner diagonally to the bottom in a rainbow.
it is nice to see you making a quilt for yourself for a change. I love the colors you were gifted. I too like the idea of either Bargello or French braid.
