I've been looking at all your bargello pics and am just itching to do one! Could you all give some advice as to patterns & books for these? I'm also kind of skittish about getting the right fabrics together but I'll jump in soon!
Thanks,
Janet

Hi Janet. This is the book I used when I made my *rainbow bargello:* Margie Edie's Bargello Quilts Her instructions were very clear and easy to do (I just went slowly at each step, read the instructions several times and chose fabrics I liked best. I'm am a rainbow in my spirit so I always end up picking rainbow colors. It's hard to stop with just *part* of the rainbow colors.

I agree with QUILT4JOY. I seen a bargello quilt on pbs long ago and that is what startted me into quiltng. then I bought the Margie edie book. great resource. I made one of those quilts into a sofa quilt will post one for y'all.

I made my first one from a pattern on quiltville.com. It was super easy. I used a jelly roll I had.

Barb's tutorial in the tutorial section is also very easy.

Beautiful quilt, I love each color.

That's a pretty pic but looks a bit overwhelming to me as a newby. I have used one easy pattern twice.

Here's the link to the post with the pictures:

Google Bargello Quilt Patterns and there are so many. There are so many different patterns out there. That is my favorite pattern so I have bunches of patterns.

See, I have the opposite take on Marge Edie's book. I found it very difficult, and eventually gave up. Plus I really hate unsewing, so I didn't want to make a bargello using the tube method. The strip piecing way was much easier for me.

This is a good site for Bargello patterns http://quilt-kits-quilting-patterns....rns-prices.htm and here is mine

I always read posts about Bargellos because I'm still in search of a pattern for a SMALL quilt - a wall hanging. So I'm asking this question again, if anybody out there has a suggestion.

I also agree with the others. Margie Edie book is really a great resource for making bargello quilts. They really aren't as difficult as they look. Just take it slow and read the instructions.

This is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Someday I hope to work up enough nerve to try one of these.

I took a class and made a Margie Edie pattern. In the book there was a picture in her gallery but it wasn't one of the patterns in the book. Of course it eas the one my sister wanted. I emailed her and she sent me the instructions. She is so nice! I agree about going slow and Look at your work in progress. I had to unsew half of the one I just made for my son for Christmas. He should have gotten it last Christmas! When I reaized my error I had to leave it for a while, 6 months actually, but it turned out well I think.

Quilt4Joy, your quilt is stunning. Is there a tiny sashing between vertical rows or is it just an optical illusion? It looks like a darker line between them.
